Pa. nonprofit ensures young adults in foster care are 'Well Rooted'

DELAWARE COUNTY, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- When it comes to the growth of families and young adults in foster care, this nonprofit makes sure they are "Well Rooted."

After Sarah Todd and Katie Casey got involved in supporting foster children with their individual families, they thought there was more they could do.

"We serve families and young adults impacted by the foster system, and we just want to be there for the foster reunifying families and young adults aging out to fill that need," said Sarah Todd.

They also provide mentors who will teach them how to enter adulthood, and are available to be contacted for any questions they have about living independently.

This service provides young adults with a safety net for starting their life once they age out of the foster care system.

"They now see that their road is not narrow, it is broad, and it might take a long way to get where they want to go, but they can. And so for us, that is a huge success, that they see...they really can dream," said Todd.

They often gather young adults for get-togethers, including one at Wynnewood Lanes.
